After growing up on Victoria Beach, it was no wonder that Mike
Stanaland was going to become a dominant skimboarder. In the early
days you could find him skimming his local break on any given day of the
year. Now Mike is veteran pro rider who skims with power that is
difficult to match. Once nicknamed 'the bulldog' because of
his aggressive and powerful style, Mike made his mark on skimboarding in
2002 when he took top honors at the World Championships at the early age
of 19. He is a Laguna local who puts new meaning to the term 'frontside
bash'. Besides being a world champion skimboarder, Mike excels at playstation and enjoys playing volleyball at Victoria Beach in his free time.
